I. WHERE WE STAND
I.1. Our Starting Point
Asociația Convey has not had a written inclusion strategy until now, but inclusion has guided our work from the very beginning. We are based in Fundulea, a small town in Călărași County, and we know first-hand that young people outside the big cities often have fewer chances to travel, learn languages and take part in international projects. Through Erasmus+ youth exchanges, training courses and local activities, we want to change that.
So far, we have:
- Brought together diverse groups: our projects have included young people from different countries, cultures and social backgrounds, and this diversity has made them richer.
- Made participation easier: we choose accessible venues, help with travel and logistics, and offer extra support to those who need it.
- Promoted respect and openness: our facilitators encourage intercultural dialogue and make space for different perspectives.
- Involved young people: participants help shape, run and evaluate our activities.
We see inclusion as ongoing work, and this strategy is our plan for doing it more systematically.
I.2. SWOT Analysis
Strengths
- A motivated team that knows the young people and the community we work with
- Good partnerships within the Erasmus+ network
- Participatory, non-formal learning methods
Weaknesses
- No structured inclusion training for the team yet
- Outreach to marginalised groups that still depends too much on personal contacts
- Few tools to measure how inclusive our activities are
Opportunities
- Strong support for inclusion and diversity within Erasmus+
- Digital tools that make information and participation more accessible
- Local partners such as schools, sports clubs and community organisations
Threats
- Limited funding for targeted inclusion actions
- The digital divide, which can leave some young people out
- Low awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities among young people in small towns and rural areas
II. MISSION AND GOALS
II.1. Our Mission
We believe every young person deserves the chance to learn, grow and experience Europe. Our mission is to create activities where all young people, and especially those with fewer opportunities, can take part fully, develop their potential and give back to their communities. This strategy follows the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Inclusion and Diversity Strategy.
II.2. Our Goals
- Diversity and representation: welcome young people from all backgrounds and keep our groups balanced.
- Accessibility: identify and remove barriers to participation, offering logistical, language, financial or emotional support where needed.
- Equal opportunities: create settings where everyone can learn and contribute, whatever their experience or situation.
- Intercultural understanding: challenge stereotypes and build empathy through intercultural learning.
- Inclusive learning: use methods that encourage open dialogue, cooperation and respect.
- Youth participation: involve young people in every stage of our projects, from design to evaluation.
III. ACTION AREAS
III.1. Team Competence
Train our team, group leaders and facilitators in inclusive practice, because inclusive activities depend on people who know how to run them.
III.2. Outreach and Partnerships
Reach new communities and work with organisations that support young people with fewer opportunities, so that our calls reach those who need them most.
III.3. Communication and Visibility
Make inclusion visible in everything we publish, online and offline, so that more young people feel our projects are meant for them.
III.4. Participation of Young People with Fewer Opportunities
Actively involve young people who face social, economic, educational or geographical barriers, in line with the Erasmus+ inclusion priority.
IV. OBJECTIVES AND INDICATORS
IV.1. Team Competence
- Objective: deliver inclusion training to our team and regular facilitators.
- Indicator: every team member trained at least once.
- Timeline: by the end of 2027, followed by yearly refreshers.
IV.2. Outreach and Partnerships
- Objective: start cooperating with at least three organisations that work with young people with fewer opportunities, locally or abroad.
- Indicator: three new partnerships and a visible increase in participants from these groups.
- Timeline: by the end of 2027.
IV.3. Communication and Visibility
- Objective: run an inclusive communication campaign about Erasmus+ opportunities, including information sessions in local schools.
- Indicator: more applications from young people who are new to Erasmus+.
- Timeline: starting in 2026 and continuing every year.
IV.4. Participation
- Objective: increase the share of participants with fewer opportunities in our projects.
- Indicator: at least one third of the participants we select for each project are young people with fewer opportunities.
- Timeline: reviewed every year until 2028.
V. IMPLEMENTATION
To put this strategy into practice, we will:
- Build inclusion goals into every Erasmus+ application we write.
- Name an inclusion contact person in our team to follow progress and support colleagues.
- Share practical resources with our partners and facilitators.
- Encourage peer learning and mentoring within our team.
VI. MONITORING AND EVALUATION
- Regular team check-ins on each objective, marking it as on track, at risk or delayed.
- Feedback forms and group discussions with participants and partners after each activity.
- A yearly review of results, with recommendations for the following year.
VII. LEGAL AND POLICY FRAMEWORK
This strategy follows the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Inclusion and Diversity Strategy and the EU's rules on equality and non-discrimination, including:
- Racial Equality Directive (2000/43/EC)
- Employment Equality Directive (2000/78/EC)
- Gender Equality Directive (2006/54/EC)
- Directive 2010/41/EU on equal treatment of self-employed women and men
- Web Accessibility Directive (Directive (EU) 2016/2102)
- European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882)
VIII. OUR COMMITMENT
For us, inclusion is a way of working, not just a policy. We want every young person who comes to a Convey activity to feel welcome, capable and free to grow, and we will keep working with our partners and our community toward a Europe where diversity is something to celebrate.
